A barrel like this would be a terrible thing to waste. One ruined stock barrel will produce at least three or four good inserts and once the main barrel is threaded it would be just a few minutes to plug in a new breech and be up and running again. Simply cut off the offending breech end section (about 2"), drill and tap the barrel, and replace with a machined insert and the barrel can be used again and again. Almost all the wear on the barrels takes place within one inch of the BB entry point. JimC's beautiful barrels would be the perfect critters to use with the replacement breech system idea. My main focus is the 300 shot magazine now. I plan to post chrony results of the stock barrel VS the longer barrels soon. So Yes, it replaces the wear point at the entrance to the barrel. The barrel is a complete replacement for the Drozd barrel.
It plugs in just like the standard Drozd stock. The M-16 stock was grafted to the front of a Drozd extension. See my post titled " Two new bulk adapters." several posts below. No more buying pricy 12 gram cartridges and having to replace them every 2 or 3 magazines. This allows one to connect a HP coiled hose attached to a paintball tank. The "#1 bulk thing" replaces the CO2 cartridge. How did you add the stock? Looks Bad Ass! How long until addicts can order one? The shorter barrel will be perfect for my needs. With your barrel, is it a complete replacement including the receiver part where all the high velocity wearing down takes place? I'll try to post an exploded view with explanation soon. I wouldn't dare take this baby out in the front yard! Can you spell SIRENS? I haven't figured a cost yet. Everything was blasted to give it a satin finish that would look "Parkerized" when hot blued for durability and realism. Anything larger would have to be necked down and I wanted this to look like it was coming out of the plastic. It was the largest size that looked right on the Drozd frame. This not only holds the Drozd together, but it stiffens an otherwise skinny barrel. The barrel is 18" long and is held in tension by the muzzle cap. The barrel is rifled, but with shooting BBs, I'm not sure it's necessary since they eat the rifling so quickly. Tried a shorter barrel? Answers to some of your questions: I bow to your computer magic! Much faster than carving it out of steel. Here is what this flat top puppy would look like with a red/green dot scope and a wire stock. What can't you do with the Drozd? Shucks, I just can't resist fooling around with my computer and JimC's great scheme. How much? Smooth bore or rifled?Īmazing, let me know when they are for sale. Tell us more about the barrels and show us pictures of it stripped down. Hope you don't mind me pulling stuff off and shoving it into my little CD from time to time.giving you credit.and giving your E-mail address. He has the credentials and puts his inventive talents where his mouth is. You gotta love this guy! WhatdidItellya way back when? Look for the wizard to truly show us more Drozd magic in the future as well. It plugs in just like the original Drozd buttstock. I grafted the male half of a Drozd extension to it with PVC cement. It also goes well, visually, with the heat shielded barrel. The buttstock, what's it off of? And how did you get it to fit so nicely? It really changes the "look" of the gun in a very nice way.
I would be very interested in that barrel!! Let ue knowīarrel looks nice and you know everyone's waiting for the bulk bb mag. Re: Phase II.Extended Barrel with heat shield on my Drozd Assault Rifle (PICS project in final stages: I just ordered 5 Drozd magazines for the first run.Standby.
Extended barrel: All steel direct replacement for the original, rifled, relatively in expensive, with a blasted and then hot blued finish that has the tactical Parkerized look.ģ. Installation tools: a hammer, a nail to be used as a pin punch, and an adjustable wrench.Ģ. Bulk: All steel, hot blued with integral male QD. A high capacity magazine that doesn't require pressure or batteries.ġ. A one piece extended barrel that looked realistic, could be made in several lengths, and was easily installed.ģ. A bulk setup that was easily installed with ordinary hand tools.Ģ. Well, I had three major modifications to design for my Drozd mule gun.ġ.
